Cannabis Cup winners and documented awards

Cannabis competition results are scattered across decades of High Times back issues, Spannabis press releases, Emerald Cup result PDFs, and the smaller Karma Cup judging reports — and the further back you go, the harder the original documentation becomes to verify. The Lockbox library tracks award entries on individual strain records only when at least one primary source (the issuing competition, the breeder of record at the time of the win, or a contemporaneous trade publication) confirms the placement. This page collects every award currently documented on a strain in the library, listed first by year and then alphabetically by strain. Competition wins matter for genetics provenance because they fix a specific cut at a specific point in time, which helps growers and breeders trace whether a modern seed pack is descended from the original winning phenotype or from a later selection. We surface the awards but do not weigh them — a 1995 Cannabis Cup is not directly comparable to a 2014 one, and we leave that judgement to the reader.

How the awards are sourced

For every award listed below, the Library Desk cross-checks at least one of three sources: the original competition results (High Times print archive scans, Spannabis published winner lists, Emerald Cup downloadable result decks, Karma Cup judging recaps), the breeder of record's own catalogue at the time of the win, and at least one independent third-party reference such as a seedfinder.eu strain record or a contemporary trade magazine review. Awards announced verbally on social media, in podcasts, or in unattributed forum posts are not added to the library. When a competition was sponsored by a brand later acquired or rebranded, we keep the competition name as it appeared at the time of the win rather than the modern owner's naming. Place values are recorded only when the original source listed a numbered placement; entries that only confirm finalist status are noted in the award name itself.

Cup winners by year

Each year below lists every documented competition placement won by a strain currently in the Lockbox library. A strain appears once per award entry, so a cultivar that took two placings in the same year is listed twice. Wins are not ranked across competitions because Cannabis Cup, Emerald Cup, Spannabis, and Karma Cup all use different judging panels and scoring formulas.
