OG family cannabis strains
The OG line splits off the broader Kush family in the early 1990s in Southern California, where a Chemdawg-leaning phenotype was selected and re-pollinated against Hindu Kush and Lemon Thai to produce what growers eventually labeled OG Kush. The defining OG terpene profile — sour citrus peel, sharp pine, and gasoline — became the signature of West Coast cannabis culture and the platform for an entire generation of phenotype hunts that produced Lemon OG, Skywalker OG, Larry OG, Ghost OG, Kosher Kush, and Headband. Plants in this family carry a distinctive lean structure with long internodes, foxtailed colas, and trichome coverage that tips the scales toward potency over weight. They tend to demand more calcium and magnesium than other indica-leaning genetics and run sensitive to humidity in late flower, but the payoff is the loud gassy bouquet that still defines premium shelves today. Almost every modern Cookies and Gelato strain leans on OG genetics somewhere in the cross, which is why this family runs so deep in the Lockbox library.
